MONTREAL, Canada, November 2, 2017 – 8D Technologies co-founder Isabelle Bettez has been selected as an ambassador for technopolys, a joint initiative to promote Quebec’s technology industry through corporate engagement and promotional campaigns.

“I’m very excited about this movement to promote Quebec’s leading role in technology”, says Ms. Bettez, also a member of Motivate’s Board of Directors. “8D’s leadership over the years is living proof that the technology sector in Quebec can excel and lead in global markets.”

As co-founder of 8D Technologies, now part of the Motivate family, Ms. Bettez led the growth of the company from its inception to forming the technological backbone and solution for some of the world’s largest bike share systems, including those in New York City, London (UK), Washington DC, Boston and Montreal. 8D has proven to be exemplary in its homegrown success, and now continues to conquer markets worldwide with Motivate.

Ms. Bettez’s goal with technopolys is to unify the strategy for large-scale engagement of the technology sector. One of the movement’s five ambassadors, she is the only woman on the team assembled by TechnoMontréal’s Industry Promotion Working Group that includes industry leaders from multiple facets of the technology sector. Technopolys’ other ambassadors are:

  • Yoshua Bengio, associate professor and scientific director at IVADO;
  • Sylvain Carle, associate at Real Ventures;
  • Serge Godin, founder and executive chairman of the board of CGI;
  • Louis-Philippe Maurice, CEO of Busbud.

The recently launched technopolys movement is a collaborative effort between companies, universities, research centres, and associations in the information and communications technology (ICT) sector.  8D is extremely proud to be part of the movement promoting the burgeoning technology sector in the province.

Quebec has been welcoming numerous big name players in artificial intelligence circles of late (such as Facebook, Google, and Microsoft) as well as  other fields who are taking advantage of the province’s move to promote itself as a vibrant hub for technology.

Founded in 2016, the Industry Promotion Working Group coordinates the collaborative effort to get the technopolys movement off the ground.
