“We’ve worked hard with Cyacle to get this newest expansion up and running, and we’re extremely proud of the results,” says Isabelle Bettez, 8D co-founder and a Member of Motivate’s Board of Directors. “We’re confident bike share cyclists in Abu Dhabi will enjoy the bike share experience now on a larger scale, helping to integrate bike share as a sustainable and economic means of transport.”
The system moves from its pilot phase of 11-stations to a full-fledged 50-station system. The newest station equipment for Cyacle is produced and designed by 8D Technologies and adds to the system’s existing 8D stations.
This latest system expansion will roll out stations in Al Raha Gardens, Reem Island, Abu Dhabi City, Masdar City, Yas Island, and Saadiyat Island including New York University’s campus.
Cyacle is Abu Dhabi’s first bikeshare system and was first launched in December 2014 sponsored by Abu Dhabi Commercial Bank (ADCB) along with the support of developers, Aldar and Miral, operating on Yas Island and Al Raha Beach in the outskirts of the city. Since its inception, Cyacle has 22,000 users covering over 151,000 kms, displacing about 20 tonnes of carbon emissions to date.
Cyacle is a private bike-sharing venture seeded by the Khalifa Fund for Enterprise Development. Cyacle is an initiative created by passionate Emiratis to bring the exciting concept of bike sharing to Abu Dhabi.
Cyacle is committed to expanding this scheme throughout the emirate of Abu Dhabi with hopes of influencing the urban infrastructure to accommodate a cycling culture. Cyacle’s vision is in line with the Abu Dhabi Vision 2030 framework plan in assuring a healthy and sustainable future.
