Spotcycle™ v.3.0: your personal bike-share tourism guide

Montreal – November 21st 2011 – 8D Technologies announces the launch of the latest version of the Spotcycle™ mobile application, the must-have bike share assistant application that helps users maximize their bike share experiences. This latest version of Spotcycle for iOS (version 3.0) features new tourism functions, in addition to its original features that help bike-share users on three continents to easily locate available bikes and bike docks at each station.

Used daily by thousands of users around the world on iPhone®, Android® and BlackBerry® devices, users can use Spotcycle to locate and view the statuses of bike stations around them. This latest version of Spotcycle for iOS allows both tourists and locals to discover the city from a different angle with thematic bike routes directly on their iPhones.

Whether you're a shopper, foodie, art enthusiast or just out for a stroll, there's a bike route for everyone! Spotcycle lets users to create their own bike routes according to their personal interests. The application uses your smartphone's GPS function to record and map out your route on a Google map. Once mapped out, users can add points of interests to their bike route such as restaurants, museums, shops, parks, monuments, and other interesting places.

Spotcycle is designed for BIXI* bike-share schemes in Boston (USA), London (UK), Melbourne (AUS), Minneapolis (USA), Montreal (CAN), Ottawa-Gatineau (CAN), Toronto (CAN) and Washington DC- Arlington VA (USA). Spotcycle 3.0 offers a number of bike routes created by the Spotcycle team that take advantage of bike paths and nearby bike stations.

With Spotcycle 3.0, social media enthusiasts can share their bike routes with their Facebook friends and Twitter followers. Spotcycle lets users post a link on their walls to a Web page mapping our their bike routes on a Google map.

Spotcycle members can share their bike routes with the community by publishing them to the application's database of bike routes. Once published, users can try out bike routes created by other members and use them as biking tourism guides.

Spotcycle 3.0 users can also create personalized bike routes reserved for private use, such as mapping out different routes for commuting.

A web version of Spotcycle 3.0 is available for computer and tablet and includes the same features as the smartphone application in a larger resolution. Users will also be able to access their phone's bike routes data. Spotcycle 3.0 can be downloaded for free on iTunes.

Spotcycle 2.2 is available on the Android Market and Spotcycle 1.1.2 is available on the BlackBerry App world.
